Home saunas cover everything from a $400 portable tent sauna to a $25,000 custom outdoor cabin — a range so wide it can make the initial research genuinely disorienting. What I try to do in this section is help buyers figure out which part of that range actually applies to them before getting lost in specific model comparisons. The main decision points are indoor versus outdoor, infrared versus traditional versus steam, size (1-person through 6-person), and budget. Most buyers settle into the $1,500–$6,000 range once they've defined their constraints. Below that, you're mostly looking at portable infrared or budget cabinet infrared. Above it, you're in the Clearlight and Sunlighten premium tier, or custom traditional builds. My own experience is with the mid-range infrared segment (Lifesmart 2-person) and with the mid-range barrel sauna segment through my parents' Almost Heaven. I haven't tested the premium end personally, and I'm honest about that in the guides.
